What this is

nyc42.lol covers New York City — museums and theatre, the river and the parks, and the things the seasons open and close. What is on, what changed, and when.

The rules

1. Every fact names where it came from, and when we last looked

   Not “updated regularly”. A source and a date, printed on the entry itself, so you can see how fresh the thing you are reading actually is.

2. Nothing is listed on a date we could not confirm

   Dates come from the organiser, not from another listings page. An event whose date we could not confirm waits until we can.

3. What’s on, not what went wrong

   This site covers what is happening, what is open and what changed for the better. Not politics, not crime, not tragedy, and not arguments. If a story needs a side taken, it belongs somewhere that can follow it up.

4. We pick the best, and say why

   A listings site earns its keep by choosing. Picking out the best of something is the job, not a compromise — what it will not do is run a place down. A takedown of a named business is not what this is for.

5. A page exists when there is something to put on it

   No empty sections waiting to be filled, and no index padded out to look busy. A section appears once there is something on it.
