Three days in December do something to Miami Beach that no other three days do, and most of what happens that week is not the fair.

What is published and what is not
The dates are confirmed on Art Basel's own page. The gallery list, the ticket prices and the split between preview and public days are not on it yet, so they are not here — the ticket link goes to the source rather than to a number invented for a listing.
The thing a first-time visitor gets wrong is booking the three days of the fair and nothing else. Art Basel is the anchor, but the week around it is when a dozen satellite fairs, gallery openings and institutional shows run across Miami Beach and the mainland — and a good deal of what is worth seeing costs nothing and is not inside the convention center at all. If the trip is being planned from New York, the flight is the cheap part and the room is not: December is high season on the beach before the fair is factored in.
